If you’re in Australia you’ll already know this, but for our international readers, basically the whole of Australia ground to a halt today because one of our two mobile/internet networks - Optus - just completely shat its dacks for about 9 hours, taking out the country’s phones, internet and banking.
The funniest part though, is that apparently when the national broadcaster tried to reach out to find out what was going on - they discovered the quite forseeable problem that everyone at Optus used Optus for their phone and internet, so there was basically no way for their company to contact anyone inside or outside the company to work out what was going on or to try and fix it.
What a country.

they have simply never lied before. the gazan health ministry has simply just not lied before. i keep seeing people claiming they have a history of making up numbers and it’s simply objectively wrong. ~98% of all deaths by combat reported by them before october 7th have been independently verified by the United fucking Nations (they describe their methodology here). the numbers for the current “war” are “unreasonably high” because there’s an unreasonable, apocalyptic amount of death being unleashed. that’s it.
this topic is genuinely driving me up the fucking wall. it’s not enough to kill gazan civilians en masse, we also have to desecrate their memory by engaging in an organized denial campaign. fucking hell if israeli military actions are all legitimate why would there be the need for a denial campaign like this in the first place.
